Hockey: Scotland face Dublin test

SCOTLAND'S senior women will travel to Dublin this weekend for a re-scheduled three-game Test Series with South Africa.

South Africa began their tour of Europe with a 4-1 win and 2-2 draw against Belgium in Antwerp. They then move on for two games in Ede against world No 1 Holland before finishing with the series against Scotland on neutral territory.

Problems with visa delays had thrown the original plans to play in Stirling into disarray.

Meanwhile, former Inverleith player Stephen Dick, who is now with English side Reading, and his fellow internationalist Niall Stott (East Grinstead) face a new threat as the scramble for next year's London Olympic selection gains momentum.

Great Britain head coach Jason Lee has increased competition for places by introducing two new faces to the existing training squad.

It had been long accepted that former Irish Internationalist Iain Lewers would pose a serious case for inclusion in the final 16 on completion of his three-year international exile to gain eligibility. The other player included is former South African Olympian Ken Forbes seeking to use his dual nationality to make the switch.

An indication of Lee's intentions will be given when the squad for December's Champions Trophy in Dehli is named with Dick and Stott hoping that they still are firmly in the plans for London.
