Hockey: Scotland face China with depleted squad

Gordon Shepherd, Scotland women’s head coach, named his squad of 18 to take on China in two test matches in Wakefield on 20-22 July as they enter their final build-up for the London Olympics.

Shepherd, whose team face world number five Germany in their pool, has a truncated outfit, missing six players in total. Laura Bartlett, Emily Maguire and goalkeeper Abi Walker have not been available since the European Nations Championships last August. Ali Howie, Nicola Skrastin and Sarah Robertson, the backbone of the under-21 team are also missing.
