Hockey: Keeper choice hands Grange cup quandary

GRANGE face a big decision tonight when they pick their goalkeeper for Saturday's Scottish hockey cup semi-final with double-chasing Kelburne.

David Woodcock has been their regular stopper this season as former No.1 Colin Johnstone, a Scottish internationalist, has been busy with his studies at university.

Woodcock, a 24-year-old, Edinburgh-born accountant, has been with the Scottish Cup holders for three years and Colin Clarke, Grange's player/coach, admitted he will have to disappoint one of the players.

He said: "It's a tough call. David has played most of our league games this season and two games in Europe.

"Colin has been busy with his university work and has not played since he appeared in two games in Europe.

"He's trained with us, however, since Cardiff and we'll have to make the decision tonight at training."

Grange are underdogs at Peffermill against the Bellahouston-based side who thrashed them 6-3 in Glasgow and edged the Edinburgh side 2-1 at Peffermill on their way to the Division One title.
