Hockey: It's a touch of Glass for CALA

Cala Ediburgh hit eight past Waverley Inveresk Trinity with Stevie Glass in great form.

The former Dundee Wanderers star fired five goals as Edinburgh opened their hockey promotion bid with an 8-1 humbling of their city rivals.

Tayside-based Glass became an instant hero as the new-look side, with former Grange and Scotland goalkeeper Colin Johnstone between the sticks, and ex-Watsonians player Fraser Sands in the line-up, were 6-1 ahead at the break.

The club took their foot off the pedal in the second half but still popped in two more goals.

It was an emotional day for the club, whose players all wore an armband as a mark of respect to former player Richard Docherty who died suddenly in June, aged 27.
