Hockey: Inverleith on song to put seven past Grove

Subway National Indoor League action returned at the weekend with the rescheduled programme at Bell's Indoor Centre in Perth.

Game of the day saw top two Inverleith and Grove Menzieshill square up, with the Edinburgh side earning a stunning 7-1 win.

Stephen Dick opened the scoring for Inverleith and Chris Grassick added a second. Menzieshill replied through Gavin Byers, but Grassick restored the two-goal advantage before the break. Second-half doubles from Graham Moodie and Adam McKenzie sealed the win. Earlier, Grove crushed Glynhill Kelburne 10-0. The goalscorers were Chris Wilson (5), Kenny Stibbles (3) and Billy McPherson (2).

Inverleith also enjoyed another comfortable win - 10-4 against VWS Dundee Wanderers - with Dick and Grassick continuing their fine form with hat tricks and further goals provided by Adam McKenzie (2), Philip Hall and Andrew Sinclair. Wanderers pair Paul Dailly and Allan Law both scored twice.

In the other matches, Grange won twice, beating Western Wildcats 8-4 and Greaves Clydesdale 11-6. Clydesdale did enjoy a 7-4 win over AMN Hillhead, who also crashed 9-1 to Wildcats. Kelburne and Dundee Wanderers drew 3-3.
