Hockey: Grove and Western locked at the top

AFTER over a year out with a knee injury Milne Craig Western striker Sam Judge returned with a bang, finding the net twice in the 3-1 defeat of Dundee Wanderers.

Helen Walker opened the scoring, then Judge sent in a rocket and made it three from the spot. Nikki Martin scored the Taysiders' consolation.

Aimee Clarke scored twice and then Louise Carroll converted a penalty corner as Grove asserted their authority at Giffnock. Linda Clement added a fourth.

Grove and Western are now locked together at the top of the table, but Grove have a two goal advantage.

In the men's relegation pool Edinburgh University beat Stepps 5-1.
