Hockey: Grange keep cup dream alive

GRANGE thrashed Capital rivals Watsonians 8-2 in their Scottish hockey cup quarter-final yesterday, writes NIGEL DUNCAN.

Colin McIver and Scottish international Yan Adams both netted doubles in the comfortable win at Peffermill.

The cup is Grange's only chance of domestic silverware and they made no mistake against Watsonians, who are striving to beat relegation from Division One.

Phil Sully, who also scored, said: We started slowly but came onto a game. We're in the final four and a stage further along the road to defending the cup."

Sully, however will miss the semi-final as he'll be on honeymoon.

On Saturday, Michael Christie fired four goals as pace-setters Kelburne thrashed Grange 6-2 in Division 1B at Bellahouston to extend their winning run to ten games.

In Division 1B, Watsonians moved a step nearer relegation when they went down 3-1 at Aberdeen.
