Hockey: Grange captain sends out a warning following comfortable win

League leaders Grange enjoyed a comfortable 3-0 win over Grove Menzieshill in the Subway National League in what captain Rob Barr had described as "our toughest test to date".

A Phil Sully double gave Grange an early advantage and Callum Milne sealed the points with ten minutes remaining. Barr was very pleased with his side's performance but warned: "We now face a tricky double header next weekend against Hillhead and Western Wildcats."

AMN Hillhead had hopes of taking something from the game with Inverleith but lost out to a penalty corner goal in the final stages of a closely-fought encounter. Glynhill Kelburne faced a determined challenge from Dundee Wanderers but goals from Ian Scholefield, Mark Ralph and Jonny Christie against a solitary reply by Fergus Sandison gave the Paisley side a 3-1 advantage at the break. However, Paul Dailly reduced the deficit to a single goal and Wanderers threatened before a late double from Michael Christie sealed a 5-2 win. Western Wildcats recovered from recent poor results to ease past Greaves Clydesdale 4-1. The final fixture between Aberdeen Asset Management and Edinburgh University has been rescheduled for 28 November.
