Hockey: Draw is enough to move Menzieshill into fourth place

Grove Menzieshill moved into fourth position in the Subway national league on goal difference from Greaves Clydesdale after a 2-2 draw with Inverleith at Peffermill yesterday.

The Taysiders took a two-goal lead into the interval, Gavin Tomlinson scoring from a penalty corner and also from the spot. The Edinburgh side rallied in the second half and two poor tackles from Menzieshill defenders gifted two set-piece opportunities for the ever-reliable Adam MacKenzie and Inverleith rescued a share of the points.

Edinburgh University did their survival chances no favours when they lost 3-2 at home to AMN Hillhead at Peffermill. Hillhead raced into a 3-1 lead at the interval through goals from Wei Adams, Andrew Duke and Chris Caldwell, with Stuart Laing and Richard McCorkell scoring again for the students.
