Hockey: Cala edge nearer promotion

CALA Edinburgh have taken a huge stride towards promotion from the Subway national indoor league division two by beating Harris 8-4 and then seeing off Grove Menzieshill`s second string 4-3 at the Bell's Sports Centre in Perth.

Cala move into the single promotion spot, four points ahead of Stepps but the Lanarkshire side have two games left, including a head-to-head with Cala.

In the women's league Granite City Wanderers enhanced their chances of promotion by collecting four points with a 1-1 draw with Perthshire and an 8-0 thrashing of Aberdeen.
