High fives for McArthur

ANDREW McArthur warmed up for next week’s second stage of the European Tour Qualifying School with a dramatic victory on the Hi5 Tour in Murcia.

The former Scottish Amateur champion wiped out a two-shot deficit on the final hole before beating Englishman Andy Sullivan in a play-off to claim the £4,500 top prize in the Hacienda de Alamo Futures Open.

McArthur, who won the inaugural Paul Lawrie Invitational, also in a play-off, at Deeside earlier in the year, closed with a 68 for a 13-under-par total of 203.

He birdied the last and then watched Sullivan, a member of the winning Walker Cup team at Royal Aberdeen, three putt, which he did for a second time at the opening play-off hole.

McArthur, who currently holds a Challenge Tour card, now heads for Costa Ballena, one of the four venues being used for stage two of the Q-School, which starts next Friday.
