Hibs: Your Views

Ian Bell, Dunfermline: "A wintry day at Easter Road as the club welcomed for the first time a Junior team in any competition. The "Medda" started very brightly and a highly controversial decision on 20 minutes as Graham Smith, the Hibs goalie, seemed to bring down the ex-Hibs youngster Barr inside the penalty box.

"The Hibs fans held their breath but the referee took a view that it was a dive and booked the player, much to the relief of the three stands inside Easter Road. I wasn't so sure. No letting up from the excited Junior players but it was the master goalscorer Derek Riordan that found the net after great work down the right wing by Hibs' best player David Wotherspoon. A brief fright as Smith was left helpless as the ball rebounded of his post, but that was it from Meadow, who then backed off into defence and the second goal was a sweetly-struck shot by Zemmama after good work by Stokes.

"The third was a good run by left-back Paul Hanlon who just ran on and on with no defender thinking about stopping him as he scored with a good shot across the keeper.

"The game was played with Hibs dictating the pace as Liam Miller and Ian Murray did everything to achieve this. Stokes up front was desperate to score but was playing far too wide on the right to achieve this. The man of the match was Wotherspoon as he was up and down the right wing with skill and great enthusiasm.

The referee was a bit fussy, especially against Chris Hogg, who was punished a few times and booked for a free-kick that the referee guessed at as he didn't see it."

Gordon Dunn, 20, Tollcross: "The performance we put in today mirrored the professionalism that John Hughes and Brian Rice have instilled throughout the club. We were never, ever going to lose this game.

"The visitors belied their position as Juniors as they put on a very good show with a performance that would show up loads of senior teams and one or two SPL sides. They were well organised and posed Hibs a few problems and had one or two moments especially in the early part of the first half, a penalty claim and hitting the post. Hibs took this all on board then went out and scored three goals and put the tie to bed without too much of a problem.

"I would like to have seen more goals but the team played their normal game and, as usual this season, we won. The only down point was Stokes not scoring and keeping his run going.

"The man of the match was Derek Riordan. He scored the first and was instrumental in all the good play up front.

"The referee was okay. He might have given a penalty and might have booked a couple of others but he was not too bad with his overall decisions.

"We have now got a team and a style of play that is up there to be challenged by all and sundryMaybe with Hughes and Rice at the helm, the long wait for cup success might finally be over."
