Hibs: Your Views

The Cup defeat to Ayr has Hibs fans fearing the worst.

Robin McEwan, Musselburgh: "What a shocker of a display, getting beaten by a bunch of part-time footballers. All and I mean ALL, at Hibs should hang their heads in shame."

Steve McKenzie, Bellevue: "Another disgraceful display from the impostors. They are an embarrassment to the club and the sooner they go, the better. Hibs have my money this season but, until there is serious investment in that team, I will not be going back.!"

Neil Wilson, Prestonfield: "A result that might shock some people but sadly not the Hibs fans. At least this game can let the manager see the opposition we are likely to be up against next season if he is still in charge. It's a pity our players did not put in the same effort over two legs as their part-time opponents but good luck to Ayr all the same."

Edward Peters: "Three defenders mesmerised by an enthusiastic break dancer - season over. First Division is now inevitable and automatic promotion next season is improbable. Oh the thrills of following Hibs."

Stephen Derighetti: "Season over in the most embarrassing of ways. Again leaderless, again gutless and tactically shocking. Does calderwood deserve more time? 180 minutes against a second division team and we cant' score. The answer's 'no' but at this perilous time of the season can we afford the change? Again, I will point out to Mr Petrie; once you lose the paying support you might never get them back."

Tam Hoy: "Another abysmal perfomance from Hibs. The biggest problem at the club is Rod Petrie. He has sold almost 20m worth of talent and none of it has been replaced. Because of the wage structure we cannot even attract average players to the club. I fear we will be in the lower divisions for quite a while."

B Fleming: "Well, Mr Petrie, that's another fine mess you have got us into. The team can't keep a clean sheet, can't score goals and, now that we are out of the cup, what size of support will turn up for the vital home games till end of the season? Can Hibs survive without Old Firm and derby games."

Ian Bryce: "Hibs' players should lower their heads in shame for their current performances especially against Ayr where they showed no inclination to tackle or play football."

Amy Drysdale, Trinity: "I want to offer Colin Calderwood my support. Most of us do not feel the responsibility for our team floundering is his, we believe it rests with the board. We remain grateful to Mr Petrie as we remain one of the few football teams in good financial health. However, sooner or later Mr Petrie needs to realise that building a good team would be more lucrative than simply not opening his purse. We need a boost, some fresh feet."I think Mr Petrie needs to come out and make a statement of intent and tell us why he's spending our ticket money on a stand rather than on a team that merits a full capacity stadium."

Vincent McCann: "No Hibs fan could have been surprised by the cup exit at Ayr. The current and previous management teams have done everything they can with the present crop of players. If we do not bring in quality players immediately, we are going down. Some of the current squad lack the basic footballing skills required such as crossing with any degree of accuracy, passing, shooting and tackling, even gaining an advantage from a throw- in is beyond them. We can't keep selling quality players and then failing to sign adequate replacements. The current form of Hibs is very similar to the season that Hibs were last relegated."
