Hibs: Your Say

Jamie McLeod, Portobello: "The game was very edgy in the opening period and a lot of bad passing and bad play was evident as the two teams started the game very tamely.

"The second period of the first half was all Hibs as we tried to push home our territorial advantage. We were rewarded for our efforts early in the second half as we were gifted a soft penalty. It was awarded as Rankin was racing through and was tumbled in the box. There was quite a delay as the Hearts players tried to pile pressure on Stokes, but he shrugged this off to expertly stroke the ball into the corner of the net.

"It was all Hibs and it just seemed to be a case of how many we'd score until the last ten minutes, when a mistake between Smith and Hanlon gifted Hearts a goal.

"After that, the confidence drained out of the Hibs players. Hughes brought on Gow, which didn't help, and in the last minutes another mistake allowed them to win the game.

"There was a complete turn around in the team's mental state. From looking so comfortable we lost the game. Hughes's recent record is relegation form and he needs a good start to next season or he will be replaced. I thought that Hogg had a good game and Rankin and Stokes were okay but the rest need to up their game if they want to play for us next season.

Charles Davidson, Leith: "Once again we capitulated to our city visitors and gifted them the points. We cannot believe how many times this occurs over the years. Is it a hoodoo, or is it just that the players we have are not capable of coping with the pressures of a derby game?

"We had loads of possession in the second half but we just don't learn to keep hold of the ball and play the game at our pace. John Hughes's tactics have been in question all season. He just doesn't see the big picture that leads to success.

"Minutes away from Europe and he still allows the game to be so stretched and played end to end when the best option would be to hold on to the ball and play the game out. How many times does he allow this to happen?

"Hearts took advantage of the sloppy defending to win the game. Smith in goal didn't look too clever for either of the goals and Paul Hanlon can shoulder some of the blame as well.

"There are two games to go and we need to take some points from them if we have any intention of playing in Europe. But going by Saturday's performance, all the other teams need to do is have a go and our players will fold. The referee let the game flow and man of the match for Hibs was a toss-up between Chris Hogg and John Rankin."
