Hibs' Trakys hopes to be back for the visit of St Mirren

The Lithuanian has missed the Easter Road side's last two SPL matches, against Inverness and St Johnstone, because of a calf injury he picked up in the final minute of the recent 2-1 win over Motherwell.

Trakys, who was a free agent when he was signed by former Easter Road manager John Hughes back in September, has proved a hit with the club's supporters in recent weeks.

The former FBK Kaunas and Torpedo Moscow hitman had impressed with his displays in the wins over both Rangers at Ibrox and the Steelmen at home, leading the line well and causing opposition defences a host of problems with his strength.

Hibs were held to a disappointing goalless draw with Derek McInnes' men last weekend but Derek Riordan will be available for selection again after serving a suspension.

And, if Trakys passes a late fitness test, it would be a double bonus for Calderwood.

The player himself is keen to be involved - if this weekend's SPL matches survive the weather - and said: "I injured my calf in the last minute of the Motherwell game.

"I have not been able to run in the field but I have been on the cross-trainer and the bicycle so at least I have been able to do some things on my own.

"I hope to be fit to play this weekend. It has been frustrating to miss games with a stupid injury just when I had got into the team and was getting fit."
