Hibs star Chisholm shocked as Nade grabbed him by the throat

ROSS CHISHOLM today described his shock at being "attacked" by Hearts striker Christian Nade as he began celebrating Hibs' stunning derby win at Tynecastle.

The powerfully-built French hitman made a beeline for the little midfield star on the final whistle and was seen wrapping his right hand round Chisholm's neck before being hauled away by Steven Fletcher.

The incident left Chisholm sporting two red scratch-like marks on the right side of his throat and today the 21-year-old admitted that he'd been both surprised and frightened by Nade's reaction.

He said: "I was a bit surprised, he is an experienced player and you would not expect that sort of thing from him. He grabbed me by the throat. I know he has just been beaten in a derby, but that is wrong.

"You cannot do that, you do not do it to anyone in the street so you should not do it here (on the pitch]. I did get a fright.

"I was going to celebrate with my team-mates and our fans and one of their players comes over and assaults me."

Chisholm believes Nade's action resulted from the pair confronting each other over a "bounce ball" after team-mate John Rankin and Hearts midfielder David Obua were injured in a clash near the Hibs penalty area. He said: "I caught him as he got the ball, it was a 50/50 and there was nothing I could do. But he started going off his nut, telling me I was not his friend but I wasn't going to get involved."

Chisholm claimed he was unaware of Nade approaching him from behind although the Tynecastle star's move was spotted by Fletcher.

He said: "Fletch says Nade chased after me, he and few others came over and smoothed things over."

Now Chisholm is willing to let the matter lie saying: "As far as I am concerned it is done with."

The after-match incident was just one of a series of unsavoury episodes which saw a mini-pitch invasion by Hearts fans after Derek Riordan scored the only goal of the match from the penalty spot; Hibs skipper Ian Murray struck by a coin and Easter Road boss Mixu Paatelainen asking police to intervene as he took "quite a mouthful" each time he moved to the edge of the away dug-out.

But today Paatelainen preferred to heap the praise on his makeshift side, Hibs having travelled to Gorgie without the suspended quartet of Rob Jones, Sol Bamba, Colin Nish and Chris Hogg who were joined on the sidelines through injury by goalkeeper Grzegorz Szamotulski, Denes Rosa and Jonatan Johansson.

Admitting the greatest satisfaction was seeing his game plan give him his first win at Tynecastle as a manager and back-to-back wins over Hearts as Hibs emerge from the league season undefeated by their biggest rivals, the Finn said: "It's a fantastic feeling.

"I was so pleased with the performance, the spirit the togetherness. The team effort was unbelievable, it was exactly as we had planned. We totally and utterly stopped them playing.

"Every player stuck to his task, they made the tactics work and in the end I think we thoroughly deserved our victory."
