Hibs sign Rosa until end of the season

HIBS this afternoon announced that Hungarian midfielder Denes Rosa had signed a short-term deal until the end of the season.

The 31-year-old international had been with Wolves but was released by the Midlands club and has been training with Hibs. It's understood he impressed boss Mixu Paatelainen in a closed-doors match against Dundee United earlier in the week.

Paatelainen told the club's website: "I am pleased that Denes has agreed to join us for the remainder of the season. He has impressed us over the last week and I'm convinced he will be a valuable addition to the squad as we challenge for a place in Europe in the second half of the season."

Rosa added: "Everything is fine, I've enjoyed this last week training with the team.

"I am looking forward to playing some hard games because these will be a good test for me. For some time now I've not been playing in big games and that is what I'm looking forward to doing at Hibernian, I have been waiting for my chance and I hope now that I will take that."

Rosa joined Wolves in January 2006. He started his career at BVSC Budapest, playing 51 times and scoring nine goals. After spells at other Hungarian clubs, including Ujpest Doza, he signed for Ferencvaros in 2003. He made 66 appearances for Hungary's most famous club and scored 13 times.

He turned out for the club - then coached by current Hearts boss Csaba Laszlo - in a 1-0 win over the Tynecastle club at Murrayfield in 2004.
