Hibs' Fanzone

Gary Duncan, Gilmerton: "After three away defeats in six days, the performances have shown us that the manager and some of the players have been exceeding their own skill levels.

"We didn't produce anywhere near what we as a fan group expect. We have lost nine goals and scored one, the manager has chopped and changed the team massively to find a result but if he had left it alone as we were doing very well it would have been a different story.

"His team selection seems to revolve around Bamba, since he has returned from Africa he isn't the same player that left but Hughes wants him to play which is detrimental to our team. Move this player and that player just to fit him in and on Saturday he was shocking.

"Sutton will never have an easier afternoon and every one of us stuck up in the top tier of the stand could see that – how didn't Hughes?

"This week is massive. We have a chance to address the farce from last Wednesday as St Johnstone visit Easter Road. If we lose that one, then I'm afraid Hughes will really have to take a good look at his selection and tactics.

"Even on Saturday we were holding on for a point until he brought on Zemmama. Fair enough, he took us forward, but it left a massive gap as Cregg had been all over the midfield stopping Motherwell playing. This substitution basically cost us a point.

"Man of the match for Hibs certainly wasn't Bamba but I will award that accolade to Lewis Stevenson. He gave 100 per cent and tried to show his bosses he should be getting a start.

"The referee was poor. If it was a red card for a tackle by Miller then it was also a red card for the retaliation by O'Brien. He and his assistants never took in to consideration the very poor surface."

Ian Wilson, Easter Road: "The pitch was so bad that it was impossible to actually play football on it. Motherwell were used to the conditions and managed to play their home park much better than Hibs. The pitch was a farce as Stokes and Gow, who were trying develop a partnership, failed miserably to pick each other out with passes. The park was responsible for the game being an absolute joke as the sand and grit is not what football players need as a platform.

"The game was turned into an uphill struggle for Hibs when the referee took the wrong decision to send off Liam Miller and not red card the Motherwell player for retaliation. From then on, we were struggling to get a point.

"We lost it late on as big gaps appeared in the Hibs defence as Hughes replaced Cregg with Zemmama and with that our toils were in vain as we lost a late goal.

"We will look at the referee's performance and the pitch as to why we lost. But I think most of the players and fans can put this week behind us and get motivated for the run-in and the cup.

"The man of the match was Stokes who, despite being starved of service, didn't give up and was still running in the 92nd minute."
