Hibs Fanzone

Derek Spence, Northfield: "The surreal surrounds of Easter Road in the midst of development made it an unreal experience for fans and players as we recorded a first victory for the first time in six games.

"As usual, we did it the hard way. First Benji passed up the opportunity from the penalty spot as his lazy shot was easily saved by Kilmarnock's substitute goalkeeper. This change was forced early on as Bamba and the Kilmarnock keeper clashed during a corner and the result was that first the keeper was stretchered off and, 15 minutes later, Bamba was forced to call it a day. The result was that Paul Hanlon was called on to replace Bamba and he put in a very good performance.

"Alan Gow also had to be replaced minutes before Bamba and he went off with what looked like a thigh strain. After all the changes, the first half fizzled out with neither team really looking favourites to take the points.

"The second half was mainly the home team pressing forward and we went close on a couple of occasions. We also spurned the penalty. Ten minutes to go and Hibs were awarded a disputed free-kick 30 yards out. Derek Riordan spotted his opportunity and fairly cracked home the ball to the top corner of the net.

"All of the players put in 100 per cent on a pitch that would test the most skilful of players, but the one that stood out was Liam Miller who bossed the midfield area and controlled the game.

"The referee didn't really spot major decisions and baffled most of the crowd and players with various strange decisions."

Ian Bell, Dunfermline: "Too many players struggled to play good football on a poor pitch but Hibs' victory was a worthy one.

"We didn't hit the heights but with our recent form we were glad we finally won. Kilmarnock were poor opponents and the pitch suited their style of play as they just put in a very physical performance by trying to stop Hibs' players trying to entertain, which is typical SPL football and why we are desperate for a change.

"Plaudits to Derek Riordan for his excellent free kick to clinch the points but Benji, who was been desperate for a chance to play and impress, took his penalty which, like his all-round play, was sloppy.

"Man of the match was Paul Hanlon who came on midway through the first half for Bamba and was asked to defend and did it very well.

"Officials, what can we say about them? They missed blatant free kicks and balls out of play – even a fine save which he adjudged to be a goal kick and some of the decisions were so poor it's a wonder how these guys get chosen to referee in the SPL. They aren't good enough for games at public parks."
