Heriot's 44 - 20 Selkirk

WITH both sides lying mid-table, a lack of desire might have been forecast for this league meeting at Goldenacre. To be fair, though, both teams looked hungry for tries from the outset.

Colin Goudie's try opened the scoring after just four minutes. Graham Wilson hit the post with his attempted conversion and was left to rue the miss as Selkirk took the lead two minutes later through a converted Rory Aglen try.

Alan Dymock put the home side back in front but some incisive play from the Selkirk backs allowed fly-half Gavin Craig to slide home after 20 minutes. Selkirk went into the break a point down after a Wilson penalty and a man down with Neil Darling sin-binned in the 38th minute.

Within two minutes of the second-half kick-off, another Wilson penalty had extended the Goldenacre side's lead and a Mark Lee try took it to 23-14 in the 58th minute. A couple of David Cassidy penalties drew Selkirk to within three points.

Two converted tries within the space of three minutes from Dymock and Goudie, though, effectively put the match to bed. A final score from winger Jonny Alston made it 44-20 to the home side.
