Heriot's 34-17 Dundee HSFP: Heriot's too hot for Dundee to handle

Heriot's may have been starved of possession but feeding on scraps was evidently a diet that suited them well. Indeed, Dundee's first-half domination was insufficient to sustain a challenge that promised much yet failed to deliver.

Jamie Urquhart's 11th minute penalty was all the visitors had to show for an opening period during which they could not convert pressure into points. Instead the home side's rare safaris into enemy territory produced tries for both Graham Wilson and Cameron Ferguson, both of which the former goalled.

After the interval, Heriot's added an early penalty by Wilson and a second touchdown by Ferguson. Credit to Dundee, though, as they responded with a try by Danny Levison, to which Urquhart added the extra points.

However, the Edinburgh men cemented victory with a 67th minute try from fullback Colin Goudie, though Dundee fought to the end, the impressive Urquhart scoring a late try that he converted. Salt was well and truly rubbed into Dundee's wounds when Goudie was first to reach his own chip ahead for the final try, which Wilson converted.
