Heriot-Watt out of Uni Cup

Heriot-WATT University are out of the British Universities Football Championship after being beaten 2-1 by current holders Loughborough University.

Heriot-Watt fell behind in only the second minute when a cross into the penalty box was powerfully headed in by Raul Alexis. In the 15th minute, Alexis was on hand again to head in another cross.

Heriot-Watt deservedly pulled a goal back with a fine solo effort from Jordan Irvine, 18, on the half-hour mark.

Meanwhile, Edinburgh University moved to the top of the Scottish Universities Queen's Park Shield league with a 2-1 victory against their Second XI with a double from Jack Beacher. Tom Timmons netted for the Seconds.
