Hearts: Your Views

Alan Duncan, Penicuik: "A really dismal display from Hearts and we can now write off this season. To be honest, I thought that we'd go into the game and show plenty of hunger and desire but that was missing again.

"It was a massive game for us. We need to blood the young players, and stop playing those who aren't going to be part of our plans for next season and see if Jim Jefferies is able to instil some organisation and discipline into the side. Obviously, our next game is a trip to Parkhead and JJ has a week to try to get them playing for him because, to be honest, we will get absolutely hammered if we go there and play anything like we did here. St Mirren played far better and thoroughly deserve their place in the final."

Graeme Hynd, Comiston: "I cannot believe how badly we played. I thought that both sides were poor in the first half and the pitch was a joke but St Mirren, at least, had a bit of a creative spark about them. Whenever we played it long, Nade either didn't win the header or he did but nobody was making the run anticipating the flick-on.

"There was no understanding between the front two and that meant that we struggled to put St Mirren under pressure. After the interval, we started the half badly and it was really only in the final 20 minutes or so that we started to come into the game. Andy Driver had our best opportunity and why he elected to square the ball rather than take the shot on himself, I will never understand.

"There is a chronic lack of confidence in the side and there has been no positive reaction to Jefferies coming in. A lot of our hopes between now and the end of the season will rest on the shoulders of Ryan Stevenson and we can only hope that he has been an inspired signing by JJ."

Peter Montgomery, Duddingston: "I cannot believe that we've witnessed such a lifeless performance in a cup semi-final. St Mirren scrapped for absolutely everything and they beat us to every second ball. The Hearts players were going through the motions and a good side would have won by three or four goals. In games of this importance, you cannot carry passengers and, unfortunately, we were asked to carry eight or nine last night.

"The only player who deserves any credit at all was Marius Zaliukas. He held the defence together to prevent a really heavy defeat and tried to bring us back into the game at the other end. Other than himself and Stewart, nobody at Tynecastle attempts to take a game by the scruff of the neck. There is no leadership and there is no passion in the side. We should have had 11 players out there busting a gut to get the chance to play a cup final at Hampden."
