Jimmy Armstrong, Gorgie: "A good performance from Hearts. I thought that we took the game to Falkirk and deserved the points.

"We got off to a brilliant start and we got a wee bit of luck because I don't think it was Lee's intention to shoot from there – they all count, though. However, losing the goal just before half time was a big disappointment and it was just a bit of misfortune that we lost the own goal.

"We made a decent start to the second half and Gary Glen should have done better with an early chance. However, we kept huffing and puffing and got the goal.

"Obua did well to put the keeper under pressure and Suso showed good composure to score. Ian Black's goal was absolutely fantastic and, at that stage, I felt we'd done enough. It's never that easy for Hearts though and in the end we were left clinging on. However, it was a determined display and there were definitely a few chinks of light for us."

Malcolm Higginson, Danderhall: "I'm really pleased to have picked up a massive three points. We had such a young, inexperienced side out there but they showed plenty of enthusiasm and worked really hard and I felt that we deserved to win.

"The heads might have gone down a wee bit when Falkirk got the equaliser after we'd dominated the first half but we came out fired up for the second half and got the win. On a day when there were so many young players in the side, I thought it was important that the experienced players stepped up to the plate and they did that. Zaliukas, Black, Wallace and Jonsson were all at the top of their game and Black deserves extra credit – not just for the goal but for the way that he battled on even though he was clearly struggling with an ankle injury all day.

"I think that this win, especially because we scored three, will give the players a lot of belief and I am hoping that they can carry this forward to the game against Hamilton next weekend."

Simon Bromley, Balgreen: "I didn't know what to expect from Hearts after four terrible defeats in a row but I definitely did not expect that! We started the game well and I think Lee Wallace's goal settled any early nerves.

"We could and should have been further in front and Falkirk were definitely the happier of the two sides to go in level. Ironically, I didn't feel like we started the second half well at all and Falkirk's best spell probably came in the lead up to us going 2-1 up.

"However, we capitalised on that wee bit of good fortune and there was definitely nothing fortunate about the third goal. If we see a better strike at Tynecastle this season, I will be surprised. It was no more than Ian Black deserved after putting in a really hard shift with Michael Stewart missing and virtually on his own in a defensive midfield capacity.

"Our defending was a little sloppy for the goal that made it 3-2 but it would have been harsh on us had we not taken the points. It's nice to see JJ back and it's great that he got a win under his belt but we will need to push on."
