Hearts urged to be big hit on home run

HEARTS boss Jim Jefferies wants his side to cash in on home advantage as the race for Europe intensifies.

The Tynecastle side play their next four matches in Edinburgh – three at home and the other across the city against Hibs at Easter Road – and Jefferies believes his side can gain from their Capital clashes.

The Jambos take on Motherwell today, Hibs next weekend Dundee United on Wednesday, 5 May, before playing host to Celtic on the final day of the season.

Jefferies said: "It should be a big advantage to us but only time will tell. We will have games in front of our own supporters and one at Easter Road.

"It has worked out for us this time – but, in the past, I'm sure Hearts have had grievances about fixtures, just like the other clubs have now. We said last week, it's all about the system. This time it has worked in our favour, giving us the advantage of being at home. We've got to take advantage of that."

Marian Kello, Janos Balogh, Andrew Driver and Jose Goncalves are all out injured, while Eggert Jonsson is suspended for today's match. However striker Calum Elliot is expected to shake off a knee problem in time to face the Steelmen.

Meanwhile, Jefferies hailed the contribution of Lee Wallace, who was poised to make his 150th appearance for Hearts against Craig Brown's side.

The Tynecastle manager added: "It is a terrific achievement for Lee as he has come through the youth system here and we have been a great club over the years for bringing youngsters through and he got himself into the international set up-too.

"Hopefully, Lee can go on and make another 150 appearances for the club."
