Hearts: the Final Answer

Do you support Csaba Laszlo's view that the SPL should have more teams, thus accommodating a winter break?

Nick Thompson, Edinburgh: "League reconstruction is definitely needed. It would give teams outwith the Old Firm a better chance to compete. That would probably be good for Scottish football but that might not suit the agenda of the SFA."

Neal Findlay, Dalry: "Scottish football would benefit from reconstruction and a winter break. I'd like to see the Scottish Cup fourth round played in December and we could have a break for the whole of January. An 18-team league is the way forward too."

Gordon Stewart, Gilmerton: "I agree with Csaba about league reconstruction but not the winter break. The weather isn't usually this bad so why close down in the winter months if the matches are playable? I don't see summer football catching on, either."

Kenny Lewis, Tollcross: "It's ridiculous for a country the size of Scotland to have four leagues. I'd like to see a 20-team top tier and a 22-team second tier. That would be much more exciting than watching four games against St Mirren."

Mark Fraser, Penicuik: "A winter shutdown would be a bad idea. Too many clubs in Scotland are struggling financially as it is without having no competitive fixtures for a month in the middle of the season. Revenue would be hit hard. SPL chairmen will never go for it."

John Carson, Woodburn: "A bigger league would be more competitive and exciting to watch and it would get rid of the dreaded split so I would be in favour of that. I think the case for a winter shutdown has been proven beyond any doubt. Asking fans to pay money to travel from Edinburgh to Aberdeen on a freezing cold day is madness."

Emma Salter, Dalkeith: "I don't support the idea of a winter shutdown. The weather in Scotland is so unpredictable that you don't know when, if at all, the bad weather would come. If you shut down in January but all the bad weather comes in February, what do you do then?"

Joe Anderson, Danderhall: "It would be possible to have a decent winter break if we had a bigger league and fewer games. A 16-team league with a shutdown from mid-December until the end of January would be ideal."

Louise Reilly, Danderhall: "The argument for a winter shutdown comes up every time there is a cold snap and disappears along with the snow. A league with more teams, as Csaba said, would be great but the Old Firm won't entertain the idea."

Colin Mills, Dalkeith: "I would be against a winter break. People are looking at the current weather and overreacting. The weather isn't usually this bad and, normally, the majority of games go ahead."
