Hearts midfielder Michael Stewart heads to Turkey for transfer talks

WHILE his team-mates were preparing for this afternoon's season-closer against Celtic at Tynecastle yesterday, former Hearts skipper Michael Stewart headed for Turkey to hold contract talks with Genclerbirligi.

The Ankara club are mid-table in the Turkish Super League with one match remaining.

Stewart, 29, hasn't featured for Hearts since being stripped of the captaincy before the 2-0 home defeat by Motherwell and then substituted at half-time due to a poor performance.

The former Manchester United and Hibs player is under contract for another month but it has been made clear that he has no future at Hearts.
