Hearts legends ready to pitch in and help holiday nightmare couple

Hearts Legends are hoping for a record attendance for one of their fixtures this Sunday when they play a benefit match to support John and Nicola Tams at New Dundas Park, Bonnyrigg.

The two Tynecastle fans were seriously injured when hit by a car whilst holidaying in Italy in July. Nicola was hospitalised for eight days after the accident and John spent several weeks in intensive care in Naples before flying home to the UK earlier this month. A host of Hearts luminaries are poised to play in their honour this weekend.

The Hearts Legends team will play one half against supporers' side Real Maroon and the other against Duddingston Athletic, with proceeds from the game going to help John and Nicola with the costs incurred as a result of their injuries. The current group of former Hearts players set to play on Sunday are: Henry Smith, Alan McLaren, Jim Weir, Jimmy Sandison, Gary Locke, Jose Quitongo, Alan Lawrence, John Robertson, Scott Crabbe and Brian McNaughton. The former St Mirren player Ian Ross will appear as a guest, whilst the legends will be managed by Walter Kidd for the afternoon.

Entry is via cash-only turnstiles at New Dundas Park. Admission costs 5 for adults and 1 for under-16s. Children under five will be admitted free.
