Hearts hand trial to speedy Coventry City winger Ogleby

HEARTS have taken Coventry City striker Rob Ogleby on trial with a view to offering the teenager a permanent deal.

The former junior sprint champion, who has ran 100 metres in just over 11 seconds, will spend the week at the club's Riccarton training base hoping to impress manager Jim Jefferies.

The City marksman has notched seven league goals for the club's Under-18 side this season and has also spent time on loan at non-league outfit Hinckley Town.

However, the youngster has been told he won't be offered a new contract by the Championship club when his current deal expires this summer.

Ogleby was denied the chance to take part in a bounce game against Motherwell yesterday after the match was called off due to the torrential rain.

Coventry academy coach Gregor Rioch said: "Rob is up in Edinburgh this week where he will hopefully get himself a contract."

Meanwhile, Hearts defender Ismael Bouzid insists he has not given up hope of playing at this summer's World Cup finals with Algeria. The centre-half is set to return to training this week following two months on the sidelines with a hamstring problem, prompting Algeria coach Rabah Saadane to cancel plans to watch him in action in Saturday's 4-1 loss to Rangers.

Bouzid said: "Of course, the World Cup is still my dream. I am fighting to make it and it is not finished for me. The coach has been giving opportunities to players and there is maybe a chance for me. But I know we have a lot of good players in Europe. If I can get back into the team and play well in five or six games for Hearts then hopefully I can show something to the national coach."
