Hearts Fanzone

Steve Donald, Westfield: "It's a poor result for us after putting in a decent performance. When you consider how patchwork the side was, I thought we made a decent account of ourselves and we might consider ourselves a wee bit unfortunate to have lost the game to a late, deflected goal. I thought we started really well and had decent efforts through Suso and Mulrooney. United came back into it a bit but we defended well enough and we looked quite solid."

Adrian Palmer, Danderhall: "It was a brave performance from Hearts. We had our chances early on but we couldn't take them and it came back to haunt us. I think United's experience proved to be the key factor and once they settled into the game, we found it really difficult to get a foothold. That must be one of the youngest starting XIs that Hearts have ever put out for an SPL game. The injury list is really bad and the loss of Michael Stewart before kick-off and Paul Mulrooney – who had a great game – towards the end suggests that it's not going to get any better. Hopefully, those injuries won't prove to be too serious because we have some really tough games coming up and I hope that we will be able to bring some players back."

David Sneddon, Polwarth: "This always looked like a hard game for us but we actually made a better fight of it here than we did when we lost on the opening day of the season so you need to give some credit to the players for their effort. The inclusion of Jose Goncalves was a big surprise and, hopefully, that won't be a one off because Jose showed he has the ability to make a decent contribution to the team. Some individuals like Jose, David Obua, Lee Wallace and Paul Mulrooney put in really strong performances for us but, collectively, we just came up that wee bit short. I thought that we were muscled out of it by United in the middle of the park and we struggled to keep a hold of the ball and that meant that we were under pressure in the second half. On the whole, It was a decent display from Hearts and we worked really hard. Losing the goal so late didn't really give us a chance to get back into it. We need to focus on trying to bounce back as soon as we can. It'll be really tough at Fir Park because they are on a roll but hopefully, we can go there and win."
