Hearts fans have their say on Csaba Laszlo's departure

John Pringle, Tollcross: "It's an absolute joke that Csaba Laszlo has been sacked five days before a semi-final. Once again, we have been made a fool of by Vladimir Romanov. The club will never be okay until Vlad is out."

Emma Michaels, Dalkeith: "It was probably the right decision to sack Csaba because although he had a lot of injury problems to contend with, I still felt that his tactics were far too negative. However, once again with Romanov, the timing of the move is absolutely terrible."

Matt Leslie, Inch: "I'm not surprised by the decision to sack Laszlo. Since August, there has been evidence that the relationship has been poor. I don't think Csaba has been the same this year and his heart has not been in it so it's probably best for both parties that he has moved on."

Neil Balfour, Edinburgh: "I feel so sorry for Csaba. He is a very passionate guy and he has done as well for Hearts as could be expected given the financial constraints he has had to work with. He will be a sad loss for Hearts and a sad loss for Scottish football too."

Craig Arnott, Niddrie: "It's disgraceful the way the man has been treated. He was manager of the year last year but even that wasn't good enough for Romanov. Laszlo could have taken the club forward but he wasn't given a fair crack of the whip."

Kevin Williams, Westfield: "I think it's been coming for a long time but I'm not too upset about it. To be honest, I have been a little annoyed at how much Laszlo has complained recently and I felt that he has been openly touting himself for another job."

John Galbraith, Leith: "It's a huge shock that Csaba has gone. I really liked him. He was a big success at Hearts and I would have liked to have seen how we would have done if Laszlo had been given the backing he deserved."

Carol Home, Edinburgh: "I am really angry at the way Csaba Laszlo has been treated. I felt that he was a very good manager but he has been treated very shabbily by the club. It's so obvious that it is a stitch-up. Csaba has clearly been a sitting duck for the last couple of weeks. Until Vlad came in, we were better than that."

Pamela Home, Broxburn: "I'm not really too surprised, especially on the back of Wednesday's result against Aberdeen. However, Vlad has to be realistic. What does he expect when he doesn't make funds available to bring in new players?"

Colin Lothian, Haddington: "I feel that the mistreatment of Csaba is another black chapter of the Romanov reign. Whether it's the right decision or the wrong decision, I feel ashamed of the manner in which this was done. It stinks and Romanov should be ashamed of himself."

Graeme McIver, Galashiels: "If Hearts were a normal football club then I wouldn't mind because we've had little entertainment for 18 months. However, we're not a normal club and another manager has lost his job because of a clash with our mad owner over transfer issues. The madness continues."

Paul Farquharson, Edinburgh: "I think it's good to see a Scottish manager come in who is also a dedicated Hearts man. He is one of us. Hopefully, he can do a terrific job at Hearts and I hope that Vlad will release some funds to bring players in."

Michael Dewar, Eskbank: "I don't see the point of bringing a new manager in and I can't see Jefferies being able to do anything different. His tactics might prove to be more positive but he still has the same squad – which is short of talent – to work with."

Brian Fraser, Danderhall: "I am absolutely stunned by the appointment of Jim Jefferies. I am very surprised that a manager of Jim's stature would be interested in working for someone like Vladimir Romanov. I hope his reign does not sour the memories of his last tenure as boss."

Harry Edwards, Gorebridge: "Just when you think that things can't get much stranger at Tynecastle, this happens. Nothing will ever surprise me at Hearts after this. I hope that he does well and I'm sure that he will."

Gary Love, Dalry: "Incredible stuff again at Hearts. I think, when the dust settles, that we will see that this is a very shrewd move by Vladimir Romanov. I feel that we were starting to go backwards under Csaba. JJ is definitely the man to take us forward again."

Richard Hardie, Dalkeith: "The timing of Csaba's departure was a massive shock but what happened two hours later is the best news for Hearts in years! The legend is back! He brought us Scottish Cup glory back in 1998. It's important that we build for next season and I feel that, if we can sign Kevin Kyle, that would be a great start. I would like to see Gary Locke brought in as a coach and maybe Gary Mackay or Robbo too to complete the dream team! Welcome home Jim!"

Craig Raeburn, Edinburgh: "I feel that this might prove to be a backwards step for Hearts and for JJ. He is a lot older now and he will struggle to attract players to Hearts with virtually no money to spend. What can JJ do that Csaba couldn't?"

George Telfer, Prestonpans: "I think this is a good appointment and I am glad we have moved very quickly to bring a new man on. It's a new chapter for the club and I feel that Jim can take us on to a new level. Good luck to him."

Ronnie Birrell, Fountainbridge: "One thing that we can be sure of is that Jefferies will be his own man. He has brought Hearts success on a shoestring before and I hope that he can do it again. An astonishing appointment."

Phil Birrell, Fountainbridge: "I am really saddened by Csaba's departure but it is really exciting that Jim Jefferies is back. If he is allowed to get on with the job, it could be the best move that Romanov has ever made. However, that is, of course, a huge if where Vlad is concerned. Only time will tell."
