The Melrose duo were due to answer a complaint raised by match officials who alleged abuse directed at them by Chalmers and Murray in the Greenyards clubrooms on the evening of Saturday, 10 April, some time after the Melrose Sevens tournament had concluded. The host club had been angered by a decision to disallow a try that television replays showed was good.
A report to the Borders Rugby Referees Society was deemed too serious for their action and sent to the SRU, who called an independent disciplinary hearing for tomorrow. However, the SRU stated yesterday that this has now been postponed to next week.
