Hawthorn too sharp for 'Rigg

The Fifers left sunny New Dundas Park with all three points after an assured second-half performance.

The home side might well have been two or three goals up in the first half if their finishing had matched their build-up. David Caine in particular created numerous chances with runs on the right wing but his crosses eluded his strikers. Sean Paliczka had two early chances but hesitated and Hill of Beath cleared. Scott Devlin brought the best out of Stuart Hall with a fine 30-yard effort.

However, in 38 minutes, out of the blue, a loose ball some 25 yards out was pounced on by Darrin Wright and he smashed the ball behind a bemused Michael Burgess.
