Hawick 10 - 39 Boroughmuir: Boroughmuir too strong

Boroughmuir hit top form to thrash Hawick at Mansfield Park, thanks to a potent surge after the interval.

The home side had gone into the game in confident mood in the wake of a string of powerful performances. However, they had no answer to the pace and thrust of the Meggetland men.

Hawick were still in the hunt at the start of the second half, but then the wheels came off in emphatic style. The visitors were totally dominant for that decisive 40 minutes and even when the hosts had possession they were unable to make any real impression.

A try for Steven Anderson in reply to Ally Warnock's penalty had given Hawick the edge. Anderson completed his double following Warnock's second strike, but that was effectively the end of the Hawick challenge and winger Tom Bury sparked the Boroughmuir rally, strolling in just five minutes before half-time to give his side a one-point lead that they built on heavily in the second half.

Boroughmuir's other counters came from Malcolm Clapperton, Johnny Latta, Sam Johnston and Chris Fusaro, along with further accurate kicks by Warnock.
