Hamilton begin their promotion bid away to Ayr

It's the battle of the Reids on the opening day as Billy's Hamilton Accies' quest to return to the SPL at the first attempt will start at Somerset Park against Brian's newly-promoted Ayr United.

The two sides have not met since the Honest Men won a League Cup tie 2-1 at New Douglas Park four years ago.

Second Division champions Livingston will mark their second consecutive title success by facing Gus MacPherson's Queen of the South at their Braidwood Motor Company Stadium. Newly-appointed MacPherson guided St Mirren to the SPL in 2006 and this will be his first match in the First Division since then. With Dunfermline and Cowdenbeath exiting the First last season, there is no Fife derby for Raith Rovers. They open up against Falkirk.

Partick Thistle host Dundee and Derek Adams marks his return to Ross County on league business with a home game against Morton.

In the Second Division, Arbroath will unfurl their first championship flag with a match against Albion Rovers, who were promoted via the play-offs. Last season, the games at Gayfield went in the Lichties' favour as they defeated Rovers 3-0 and managed a 1-1 draw. Paul Martin's men are celebrating their first season out of the basement in 22 years and derbies against Airdrie United beckon, with the first coming on 10 September at New Broomfield.

The first Fife derby of the season comes at Central Park on 10 September when relegated Cowdenbeath host East Fife.

In the geographically-stretched Third Division, relegated Peterhead, playing in the bottom tier for the first time since 2005, will have to travel to Broadwood to meet Clyde on the opening day.

Paul Hartley's introduction to league management with his much-fancied Alloa Athletic will begin with an awkward trip to Stair Park, Stranraer, where Keith Knox's men had one of the best home records in the league.

Annan Athletic host Queen's Park in an interesting fixture which pairs sides who both reached the play-offs last season.
