Gunners under attack

Retired Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes claims Sir Alex Ferguson would "not allow" the Old Trafford club to go six years without a trophy, as has happened at rivals Arsenal.

Once locked together in a two-way battle for supremacy at the top of the English game, United and Arsenal's rivalry was notorious. But while the Gunners have maintained their reputation for playing attractive football, they have been unable to match United in the trophy department and have not lifted any silverware since their 2005 FA Cup win over the Red Devils.

Scholes said: "They may play the prettiest football, but it doesn't always produce the results they need. I don't think our manager would allow this club to go six years without a trophy."
