Grove target third consecutive title

HOCKEY: CALA Edinburgh and Milne Craig Western stand between Grove and their third consecutive Subway national league title in a crucial double-header weekend.

Western are ahead after a comfortable 5-0 victory over Giffnock in midweek, but the Taysiders are only three points adrift, with a game in hand and a slightly superior goal difference.

The fate of the title rests with the back-to-back fixtures between Grove and Western, the first of which is scheduled for Bellahouston tomorrow, and the final game next week.

Grove drew first blood by beating their West coast rivals 2-1 in the Arthur McKay Scottish Cup final a fortnight ago at Peffermill.

Today the Taysiders are away to CALA Edinburgh in their catch-up fixture, and only a miracle here would halt the Grove bandwagon. Last time out the Dundonians won 5-0.
