Griffiths training with Parma

PROLIFIC striker Leigh Griffiths is one of three Livingston players training at Italian side Parma this week.

Griffiths, 18, who is attracting interest from across Britain having notched an impressive 17 goals in an injury-hampered campaign, is spending time with the Serie B outfit along with team-mates Andrew Halliday and Joe McKee.

Livingston chairman Angelo Massone used his contacts in his homeland to set-up the training stint for the trio, who are due back on Friday after jetting out on Monday.

Although the First Division club are keen to stress the trip is simply to give the players the experience of training in a different country, the venture could lead to Parma taking a more solid interest in the players.

Livingston manager Paul Hegarty said: "The three of them have gone across there as the chairman has a relationship with Parma and I've sanctioned it. They will train with their youth side. It's a good time to do it given it's the international week. They are across there training and seeing what it's all about. It's good for them to see what other clubs are like. It's a good chance for them to experience training in another country – they will be back on Friday."

Seventeen-year-old midfielder Halliday has made several first-team appearances this term, while fellow youngster McKee is yet to make his debut.
