Greig Hutcheon sets sights on 'life-changing' shoot-out

Greig Hutcheon, the Tartan Tour's order of merit winner, has insisted that success in the Srixon PGA Play-Offs could be life-changing ahead of two days of intense competition at Little Aston in Birmingham.

The Banchory pro, along with countrymen Craig Lee and Chris Doak, forms part of a 21-man field for the 36-hole shoot-out which offers places in a host of lucrative European Tour events to the leading finishers.

Hutcheon has secured starts in the BMW PGA championship and the Barclays Scottish Open thanks to his rankings success but the Northern Open champion is looking for more as he aims to bolster his 2011 schedule.

"There are half a dozen or so events to qualify for and it's massive for me and everyone else taking part," he said. "If you can get those European Tour starts next year and record some top 10 finishes then you can get your card. It can be life-changing stuff."

Lee and Doak will join the scramble which starts today and features the top-three players from the PGA's seven regions around the UK and Ireland.
