Green left frustrated as Rocks throw away lead

BASKETBALL: Glasgow Rocks suffered a fourth quarter meltdown last night as Plymouth Raiders rallied from 21 down to steal an 85-78 win in the British Basketball League.

The Devon outfit went on a 19-0 run to stun Sterling Davis’ men, who had looked set to pull off an upset with captain EJ Harrison back in their line-up. But despite a game-high 28 points from Mychal Green, the Rocks crumbled as they were eventually out-scored 30-8 in the final period.

Green said: “We just got into a funk in the fourth quarter where we kept waiting around for someone else to make a play while they kept scoring. It’s frustrating.

“We were still up 15 at the end of the third but when you stop playing defence, this is what can happen. Plymouth had fresher legs and they just running up and down and we didn’t respond.”

The loss wrecked the weekend for the Rocks who pulled off a surprise 87-82 victory at Leicester Riders 24 hours earlier. But Green added: “It was good to win in Leicester but we can’t take anything from the loss. There are no moral victories.”
