Grecians will fall in Lions' den

MILLWALL have been on an eye-catching run of late and the Lions (4-7 Betfred) are tipped as this weekend's banker bet to beat poor travellers Exeter at the New Den today and assert their promotion credentials.

With four consecutive wins behind them, Kenny Jackett has instilled a never-say-die attitude into a previously inconsistent side, as League One leaders Norwich found out to their cost last weekend. After falling behind to an early goal, Millwall hit back twice to record a 2-1 victory over Paul Lambert's side, ending the Canaries run of eight straight wins.

Exeter conjured a shock win of their own by beating Leeds last month shortly after they stunned Manchester United in the FA Cup at Old Trafford. However, Paul Tisdale's outfit have not built on what should have been the catalyst for moving up the table and will surely be in for a tough time in south London.

Along with Millwall, the three bets to add to the Yankee are Coventry (6-5 Ladbrokes), fresh from their midweek win against Nottingham Forest, to beat a QPR side in freefall, Middlesbrough to beat Championship basement boys Peterborough (4-7 generally) and Ross County (evens Blue Square) to beat Dunfermline.

For the away bet, crisis club Portsmouth can ease their financial woes by beating arch rivals Southampton in the fifth round of the FA Cup at St Mary's. Pompey have shown plenty of ability and fight despite their troubles on and off the field and will travel to their League One neighbours buoyed by an injury-time equaliser against Sunderland in midweek. After reaching the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final, the Saints will be in confident mood but the big two, Hills and Ladbrokes, are surely placing too much emphasis in the romance of the cup by offering 13-8 about Portsmouth, a team that won it only two years ago.
