Grange bid to boost their hopes of a second-place finish

And he is keen to see an action replay of the form which saw his side, now on 19 points, destroy Hillhead 11-2 the previous week.

Third-placed Inverleith also have 19 points and they host second-bottom Hillhead, also at Peffermill (1.15pm). Inverleith will be looking to build on last weekend results, which saw them salvage a draw with Edinburgh University and beat bottom club Dundee Wanderers.

They will fancy their chances, as Hillhead have won only one and drawn one of their nine games. CALA coach Neil Allan still can’t fathom how the eighth-placed Edinburgh side lost 4-0 to Clydesdale last week but he has to marshal his squad for the visit of Wanderers to Meggetland (3.30pm).

Points are at a premium even at this stage of the season for newly-promoted CALA, who have eight so far, while Wanderers are rooted to the bottom on one point.

Elsewhere, Western, who are fourth with 17 points, and right in the dogfight with Grange and Inverleith for second place, entertain Edinburgh University, a game which could see the students’ player/coach, Graham Moodie, playing against his younger brother Ian.

The sides drew 3-3 at Peffermill on their last meeting in mid-October and Edinburgh University, who are currently fifth with 11 points, are desperate to remain in the top six after an encouraging start to their current campaign.
