Tyrrell Hatton heaps praise on Scottish caddie Mick Donaghy

Tyrrell Hatton heaped praise on his experienced Scottish caddie, Mick Donaghy, after achieving a boyhood dream of becoming a Wentworth winner.

Hatton claimed a four-shot success in the BMW PGA Championship at the Surrey venue with Glasgow man Donaghy at his side.

It was the pair's third success as a team after Hatton's victories in the Turkish Airlines Open last November and the Arnold Palmer Invitational in the US earlier this year.

"Me and Mick started working together at the British Masters last year and I've loved every tournament that we've been together," said Hatton as he savoured a success worth €974,457.

"He's got so much experience. He's been on Tour for over 30 years. I think this might be his 24th win. So obviously he's seen a lot.

"He's worked for a lot of fantastic players. He brings a calmness, which is a good thing for me, and we get on really well.

"We have a really good relationship, and I think you definitely need that when you spend as much time together as players and caddies do."

Hatton was just five when he was first taken by his dad Jeff to Wentworth for the European Tour's flagship event when the family lived in Marlow.

It was his dream to play in the event one day and then win it as well, with both those boxed having been ticked by the Englishman, who turns 29 on Wednesday.

"There's a lot of fantastic players on that trophy," said Hatton. "The tournament's got such an amazing history, and to be a part of that now is extremely special."
