Trio tee off on 625-course epic

THREE intrepid golfers have teed off in their quest to play every Scottish golf course to raise funds for charity.

Craig Watson, Stuart Fleming and Alan McPherson are to take on the 625 courses across the country by 2020, including all of those with less than nine holes and the private and par 3 courses, with the aim of raising a minimum of 10,000 for Cancer Research UK.

And the trio's fundraising drive has already come to the fore by enlisting the support of top women's golfer Catriona Matthew and current R&A captain Colin Brown.

Alan McPherson said: "Although the three of us are keen golfers and enjoy the challenge of new courses, from the great championship links to the most remote nine hole courses there's an obvious serious side to our challenge.

"We don't think that anyone has ever played all 625 courses so although our friends think we are daft to be tackling such an ambitious challenge, we're having great fun raising money for such a worthy cause."

Matthew said: "I hope they succeed in raising as much as possible to help research into cancer." To donate money, visit www.justgiving.com/golfingcoasttocoast.
