Tiger Woods parts company with coach Foley

LESS than a fortnight after ruling himself out of contention for the Ryder Cup due to back trouble, Tiger Woods has now parted company with Sean Foley, his coach for the last four years.

Foley, who also works with Scottish Open champion Justin Rose, helped Woods win nine times worldwide during their spell together.

However, The Scotsman understands that their relationship had become strained as the former world No 1 finished well out of contention in this year’s Open Championship at Hoylake.

Foley was spotted at the Merseyside venue deep in conversation with Mark Steinberg, the player’s agent, and it seems no coincidence that Woods has now decided to move on. “I’d like to thank Sean for his help as my coach and for his friendship,” Woods said on tigerwoods.com. “With my next tournament not until my World Challenge event at Isleworth in Orlando [in December], this is the right time to end our professional relationship.”
