Solheim Cup star Suzann Pettersen earns Hall of Fame spot

Suzann Pettersen has joined Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the Norwegian Hall of Fame on the back of her Solheim Cup heroics in Scotland last year.

Pettersen, who holed the winning putt for Catriona Matthew’s side in a dramatic match over the PGA Centenary Course at Gleneagles in September, broke the news on social media, saying she was “proud” of the honour.

One of Matthew’s wildcards, Pettersen announced her retirement soon after holding her nerve to hole a six-foot birdie putt to give Europe victory against a hat-trick seeing US side.

Solskjaer, who made his name in English football as a player for Manchester United before returning as manager last season, was the first to be inducted to the Norwegian Hall of Fame in 2012.

l Former Scottish Amateur champion Chris Robb and Kevin Duncan both fired three-under 69s to lie joint-14th after the first round of the ProGolf Tour’s Open Palmeraie in Casabanca.

l Lumine Golf Club in has been confirmed as the host venue of the European Tour Qualifying School final stage for the next three years. The six-round card shoot-out has been held at the Tarragona venue since 2017.
