Scots back in the hunt after big win

SCOTLAND'S golfers got their Boys' Home Internationals campaign back on track with victory over Wales at Southerness yesterday.

Stuart Wilson's side, who suffered a heavy 12-3 defeat to Ireland during Tuesday's opening round of matches, came out fighting on day two and eased to a 10-5 win over the Welsh.

Wales had managed a battling draw with defending champions England in their opener, but the Scots seized early control and won the foursomes 4-1 during a session highlighted by Scott Gibson and Jack McDonald's 9 and 7 trouncing of David Boote and Oliver Mottram.

The hosts head into the final round of matches today still in with a chance of landing the R&A Trophy after Ireland and England fought out a draw.
