School golf: Hill a team man with double triumph

Merchiston School beat George Heriot’s 2½-1½ over Gullane No 1 in the Scottish Area Final of the Independent Schools’ Golf Association Matchplay Championship.

The team – Calum Hill, Max Brueck and Morgen White – will now represent Scotland in the British final at Royal St George’s next month.

For Calum, it was a case of double celebration. He was also a member of the Independent Schools Golf Association team that won the inaugural Exeter Invitational Tournament at Trevose. Competing against 12 top golf universities in the UK – including Stirling – Calum joined Jack Singh Brar (Hampshire College) and Jack Sallis (Wellington College) in an impressive victory.
