Ryder Cup launches Gleneagles 2014 ticket ballot

The public ticket sales process for the 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles has moved into the public ballot stage, marking the beginning of a six-week period for fans to purchase the highly-prized tickets.

The 2014 Ryder Cup takes place over six days and encompasses three Practice Days – Tuesday 23 September, Wednesday 24 September and Thursday 25 September – and three Match Days – Friday 26 September, Saturday 27 September and Sunday 28 September.

Daily tickets range in price from a £10 concession ticket for Under-16s on the Practice Days, to £145 for a Sunday ticket, while a range of combined ticket

options is also available.

Those fans interested in Practice Day tickets can purchase them immediately on a first come, first served basis, while those interested in Match Day tickets have from now until midnight on Monday 22 July – when the process closes – to apply. All Match Day applications will then be included in a ballot, with those who have been successful being notified during the week commencing Monday 12 August.

Richard Hills, European Ryder Cup Director, said: “The Ryder Cup is one of the world’s most iconic sporting events and The 2014 Ryder Cup promises to more than live up to that

fabulous history.

“Ticket registrations have already been strong since we launched the pre-registration process on 10 May, but the ballot process for Match Day tickets means that everyone has the same chance of success.”

General Admission ticket holders have access to all public areas of the golf course and its facilities, including the tented village, ground access to all 18 holes of The PGA Centenary Course at Gleneagles and access to any grandstand on the course. The full range of ticket options available includes: Practice Day and Single Day tickets, alongside Two Day, Four Day and Six Day Season Tickets.

Those purchasing tickets can also pre-book parking spaces at one of the three park and ride facilities being set up to ensure fans have a smooth journey to the event. Buses will run from Castleview, Stirling; Balado, Kinross; and McDiarmid Park, Perth. Details of additional public transport, including train services, as well as dedicated buses from Edinburgh and Glasgow will be announced in due course. There will be a strict no parking policy at Gleneagles.

General Admission tickets include a photographic image of its owner in order to prevent fraud and ticket transfers. Applicants must therefore register their photograph with Ryder Cup Europe prior to applying for tickets.
