Kylie Walker battles back to salvage 74 in Florida

Kylie Walker battled back over the closing stretch to rescue her second round in the LPGA Tour Qualifying School at Daytona Beach in Florida.

Lying joint-18th after an opening two-under-par 70 at LPGA International, the 29-year-old from Glasgow was four-over with five holes to play on the Hills Course.

Walker, a two-times LET winner, picked up birdies at the 14th and 16th, though, to salvage a two-over-par 74 and sit in a share of 43rd spot after 36 holes.

Aberdeen’s Gemma Dryburgh and Sally Watson from Elie both posted 74s on the same course to sit two and four shots respectively behind Walker. Dryburgh, who opened with a 73, had four bogeys on her card, one fewer than Watson as she slipped back following a first-round 72.

Former Loretto pupil Julie Yang from Korea moved into a share of the lead after backing up her opening 66 with a 60 on the Jones Course.

Cheyenne Woods, Tiger’s niece, leapt into the top 10 following a 69 on the Hills Course.
